Projects

Current: Colchester Town Updates. A lot of shops and features haven’t been touched in many years. I’m making Mapillary uploads, along with another local EdLoach, and am working my way through it.

Current: Residential Build. Brook Street, Colchester UK. Plenty of missing houses and features. I’m using this to learn how to do residential builds again. Have done a Mapillary survey of the area. https://osm.org/go/0EHYeAwwB–

Current: Note Resolution by Survey, Colchester UK. Plenty of ageing notes that haven’t been worked on, needing surveys.

Future: Colchester Town Survey. I’m not confident on feature alignment in the town. All the GPS traces vary wildly. I need to get an accurate survey so I can realign roads and buildings. I’m researching GPS survey equipment to do this.

Future: Colchester Historial Features. There’s been a lot of heritage work in Colchester over the last 10 years which hasn’t quite made it onto the map yet. I reckon this is the most worthwhile project I can do, but am training myself up with other projects first before I tackle this.

Future: Residential Build, Roman Road and Castle Road, Colchester UK. Improving existing roads, building geometry, and adding house details. https://osm.org/go/0EHYcaZ~g–

Done: Residential Build. Riverside Estate, Colchester UK. I’ve finished all houses, garages, and addresses on the Riverside Estate. I’m 80% confident of the road alignments. I started doing fences but they gave little value, so have left it as is. I may revisit to add that kind of low level of detail. https://osm.org/go/0EHYc_Qa

Done: Industrial Build. Rota House, Colchester UK. Small build, but something I passed every day to work, and was bugging me that it wasn’t complete. Was a good test case to get my feet wet again coming back to OSM in 2024 after many years. https://osm.org/go/0EHYfI018–0EHYc_Qa
